More Snow at Falls Creek and Hotham PDF Print E-mail

Whilst it was a very cool -5.3 °C at Falls Creek this morning the mood amongst the many school-aged guests was very positive. Two popular lifts (Ruined Castle and Scotts Quad Chairlifts) opened for the first time this winter providing access to a large array of intermediate and more challenging snow-covered slopes.

After several days of fresh snowfalls (and snowmaking) there is about a half a metre snowdepth covering the resort's family-friendly south facing slopes and the longest beginner trail in Australia, the 2.2km Wombat's Ramble, is also well covered.

Today's skiing and boarding in bone-dry snow will be the best of the 2008 season so far. However, there's another seriously cool pool of air about to sweep across Victoria, which will bring even more snow.

Interstate guests seeking a seamless transfer from Albury Airport can either contact Albury-based Ace Limos who will drive time-poor guests from Albury Airport to Falls Creek. The cost is $1,200 return in a limo that seats up to 8 people, or from Melbourne the cost is about $2,000 return.

Helicopter Service Australia offers even faster connection between Albury Airport and Falls Creek. It will cost about $1,800 for up to five passengers. To take the chopper contact Helicopter Service Australia. www.helicopterservice.com.au

The Helicopter Service Melbourne's fleet of helicopters includes a Eurocopter
AS350 BA which they use for Heli-Flights between Falls Creek and hotham.
More than 32,000 skiers, boarders and sightseeing guests have taken advantage of the heli-link between the two alpine resorts.

It is about a six minute flight in a five to six seat helicopter which cruises at 120 knots (222km per hour ) as it whisks its passengers from a purpose-built helipad at Falls Creek and Hotham

To book a flight contact the resort’s Activities Hotline 1800 20 44 24
